Shakespeare uses five different methods to keep his audience interested in his plays which are Themes, Setting, Dramatic Devices, Character, Language and Narrative Techniques. All of these I will be talking about.

Out of these five methods one of them are themes. The two most important themes are Ambition and Death. The Ambition in Macbeth keeps the audience locked in the play because it shows how far people will go to get what they want or hard they would work to get were they need to be which the audience easily relate to because its a very common human emotion. An example of Ambition in Macbeth is when Macbeth wanted to be king so desperately that killed a very important man in his life (King Duncan). Death in this play engaged the crowd to what was happening because the violence can bring out two emotions which would constantly switch during the play depending on who’s died it also keeps the audience engaged because it makes you want to know whats going to happen next the play. An example of death in Macbeth is when Macbeth kills King Duncan who was sleeping at the time which the audience wouldn’t wouldn’t be happy about because King Duncan had been a good character through the play.

The second method that Shakespeare uses to keep his audience locked in the play are two settings, place and time. Place was important this play because it had to fit in with what was going on during the play to keep the audience locked in with what was going on during the play,for example if it was sunny when a character dies it wouldn’t make to much sense because during a moment like that it would dark and cold because someone dying wouldn’t be a good thing depending on who the character is. It keeps audience locked in because it reflects the mood and the characters thoughts at times. Time also keeps the audience interested because just like place it reflects the mood.(edit)
